I decided to pursue a career in sports journalism since I can constantly be around sports and put my knowledge to the test.
I earned my M.A. degree in Journalism from Hofstra University in Hempstead. I graduated in May, 2012.
In May, 2010, I graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., with a B.A. degree in History and B.S. degree in Kinesiology.
I graduated from Chaminade High School (Mineola) in 2006.
In fall 2010, I began writing for a weekly Catholic newspaper, The Tablet, which serves Brooklyn and Queens, N.Y. I cover all sports in the diocese ranging from CYO youth league sports to professional teams and players.
I was hired as the full-time sports editor and editorial staff member at The Tablet in June, 2012.
In my first year on the job, I was awarded two honorable mention certificates for sports journalism at the 2013 Catholic Press Awards.
In addition to a weekly sports column for the newspaper, I have developed a weekly sports television segment that airs every Monday on Currents, NET-TV’s news program. Click “TV Appearances” above to view the segments.
Through my work in The Tablet, I was picked up by metroBASEBALL Magazine, a quarterly baseball publication serving the New York metro area. I cover all sorts of baseball related events and was named Senior Editor of the magazine in summer 2011.
In addition to sports, I was hired as the co-managing editor of Long Island Report, a news and multimedia website run by Hofstra University graduate students. I have been able to broaden my horizons by covering current events, political conferences and business stories. The website won the 2012 Press Club of Long Island (PCLI) first place award for “Best Web Site.” Individually, I won third place in the student journalism narrative news category at the 2013 PCLI awards for my coverage of Watergate reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.
I interned at the Long Island Press in summer 2011. I worked in both news and sports, and my in-depth look at baseball on Long Island was featured on the cover Sept. 15. This story won best sports feature at the 2011 New York Press Association Awards show.
Currently, I am working as a freelance content curator at Facebook in addition to continuing my work with The Tablet and Currents.
I’ve also written for SNYGiants, SNYNets, Mets Merized Online and At Home Plate. I’ve interviewed Mike Piazza, Buddy Harrelson, Joan Hodges, Gil Hodges Jr., Frank Robinson, Rich Donnelly, Tony La Russa, Dwight Gooden, Chris Mullin, Ron Darling, Ralph Branca, Frank Viola, Al Leiter, Frank Catalanotto, Frank Tepedino, John Franco, Mel Davis, Jim Larranaga, Lou Carnesecca, Jason Kidd, Stephen Boyd, Danny Abramowicz, Sundiata Gaines, Mike Baxter, Boomer Esiason, Bob Wolff, Prince Amukamara and Dick Bavetta.
I have a proficiency in several multimedia skills including Adobe Photoshop, iMovie, Final Cut Pro (basic knowledge), InDesign, QuarkXpress, Soundslides, Audacity and SoundCloud.
Thanks for visiting my site, and I hope you enjoy!
